Ann Johnson had a stroke in 2005 that left her fully paralyzed and unable to talk. For years, she spelled words one letter at a time with her eyes.
Now scientists hooked up an AI brain implant that translates her thoughts into speech, text, and even an animated face that talks with her own wedding-day voice.
The system used to lag eight seconds, but now it is almost instant. Ann says it makes her feel in control and she wants to show patients their lives are not over.
