“Daddy, why are there so many bad people in San Francisco?” Today I rode the train into the city with my 3yo son. At Safeway’s entrance, we saw a thief swing at the security guard. The guard reached for something to defend himself, and we ran for cover. We tried to finish shopping—just buying a simple snack. But as we checked out, another man was caught stealing. He stormed out, shouting threats at the staff, the guard, and everyone nearby until they ran him off the property. My son had never seen violence like this until today. So @DanielLurie — what do I tell him? Why does San Francisco let criminals rule the streets while kids learn to run for cover?
