The most scarce resource in any crypto founding team is a strong crypto-native BD / sales person
- Crypto tech is highly complex to explain and understand
- it is hard to break into crypto-native networks without the above
- Crypto sales are very relationship-driven - it takes multiple conference trips to close a deal, not easy to do
- Crypto products rapidly evolve and exist in competitive markets
- Most crypto BD / sales people are not crypto users
- Commercial agreements in crypto are non-standardised
- Good talent often leaves to pursue things outside BD / sales
If you are working on a start-up now and have a strong crypto-native BD / salesperson on your team - your job is to retain that person at all costs. Not many of them exist.
