In my early backpacing adventuring 20s I went with bunch of friends on 4th class sleeper train (ICYMI indian trains have 7 classes) About 15 hours, one night, total with stops: Delhi - Agra - Jaipur - Udaipur. The bunk beds are for 2 people, so I booked 2 spots in order to sleep alone. Nonetheless I had an uninvited guest in the middle of the night who tried to snuggle with me and I had to forcefully remove him from my bunk because he didn't understand me showing him two tickets I booked. I still remember the raspy voice of the chai seller screaming his product offering "chai chai chai chai" from 4:30 am in the morning. I still remember the clanky old metal fan hanging from the ceiling that provided more noise than relief from heat. I still remember the smell of sweat and curry, as local passengers eat on their bunks with their bare hands and then leave the mess around. It was my first trip to Asia too. After this nothing else could ever surprise me on my travels. It was learning to swim by jumping in the shark infested water with a lead weight on my ankles 80 hours in the lowest class? Nahh maaan.
